Ronny Gani, Indonesian Animator Behind the Screen film "Pacific Rim"


Behind the success of the animated film "Pacific Rim" is still playing in cinemas in the country today, there was a touch of an animator Indonesia. He Ronny Gani, a young animator who worked at Industrial Light & Magic, in Singapore, a subsidiary of Lucas Film Group, who worked on the film.

"When I worked at the Pacific Rim animation. So I wiggled characters in the film," Ronny said in an interview reported by VOA's website. He said, as an animator, he has played the role of visual effects that role in the animated character movement becomes more vivid and plausible.

This is not the first debut animations work in Hollywood movies. Ronny previously also involved in the cultivation of the Avengers movie which was released in 2012.

"It happens that when I first started working at Industrial Light & Magic, project under construction is The Avengers. So I automatically get involved in the project. Broadly speaking group Industrial Light & Magic was working at the end of the film has begun aliennya invaded, "said Ronny.


Job as an animator is actually not his goal as a child. Even until after college he may not have been imagined profession now because Ronny is a graduate S1 Department of Architecture, University of Indonesia.

"During college I felt less comfortable with the field that I learned and finally try to find what I have passion in addition to the field of architecture," said Ronny.

Ronny love of the art is quite strong to make it learn the deeper areas of the self-taught.

"I learned that when the 3D software I use to work on assignments. Finally, I know that the use of 3D software that it can be applied to the film industry, in this case the animation and visual effects," he said.

Without formal education and experience, Ronny then create a portfolio and looking for a job in the field they want, namely animation.

"I got my first job in Batam. At that time I lived in Jakarta and I had to relocate to Batam, and work there one year," he said.

In Batam first job as an animator is working on a film project "Sing to the Dawn", a collaborative project between the animation studio in Batam Singapore company. The movie itself release in Singapore and Indonesia with the Red title dream.

After obtaining work experience in Batam, Ronny finally decided to look for a job in Singapore as a springboard. The search process works is also very easy and everything is done via online on the Internet, until finally accepted and given a work permit.

Initially he worked in Singapore local company, Sparky Animation. Sparky Animation is an animation company that is working on small-scale projects, such as the TV series and movie DVDs.

After six months of working there, Ronny then get a job at Lucas Film Animation in Singapore for more than four years. At Lucas Films, he was involved in the making of the TV series Star Wars: The Clone Wars for broadcast season 2, 3, and 4.

After a career in the field of animation for several years, Ronny claimed to work as an animator is not a dream job, but it can be regarded as a process in his career.

"I wrote the architecture college. Well, more like the only time yes, until I finally is here. And I am grateful. Should I be grateful to be here. But this is not something that is on the small of my dreams, like the ideals I want so the pilot or what I call animators, no. But it is of little animated films and I love things that are art, "said Ronny.
